I talk a lot about planning your brand photoshoot before we start taking the photos – part of that preparation is getting to know you! Your story, your brand, your energy. I want to know why you started this business, what you love about it, and how you’re going to use the photos so I can customize your session to you!
Whether we’re taking a new headshot, shooting a whole brand session, or I’m photographing your products, there’s always a story to tell. Your business, your brand – it all comes from you and I can’t truly capture that until I get to know you.
I’ve found that the more I connect with clients before our shoot together, the more relaxed and confident they feel when the camera comes out. And the images are better when that happens! When you feel like I know your brand and what you need captured, the images feel more genuine, and more you.
Most of the magic of a great shoot happens before the shoot. Before we meet up on shoot day, we’ve had a call or two, talked through ideas, you’ve shared your inspiration photos, and we’ve built a vision and a plan for your shoot. I know your brand colors, and that you have a launch coming up, for example. I know what you want to avoid with your photos, and what you’re using them for – social media content, packaging, a new website build, etc. I’ve learned what you value in your business and the types of customers you are marketing to. This helps me plan all the details – location, props, lighting, poses – with that vision in mind.
I love chatting with clients and prospective clients. It is one of my favorite parts of my job. I love hearing about your story, your goals, and your passion behind why you’re even doing this. I want you to feel like we’re a team bringing your vision to life when we plan your brand photoshoot.
Every one of my clients is different – and honestly that’s what makes my job so fun! Some clients have a calmer, more grounded vibe, some are fiery and colorful, and everything in between. The better I can understand your unique vibe, the better I can capture that in your photos.
Recently I worked with a client who had a very dramatic, moody vibe. We used more dramatic lighting with lighting equipment that I brought in, with lots of contrast and shadows to capture her vision. We wanted a high end feel, so we used fabrics and props that were luxe-looking. That kind of intentional detail was planned for – it doesn’t just happen by showing up to shoot and making it up as we go. Being intentional is key when we’re planning your brand photoshoot.
When you work with me, it’s not just me showing up to shoot some photos and directing everything myself. You’re hiring me to capture your brand and help you with your marketing to grow your business – something you’ve poured a lot of yourself into. My goal is to always work with you. You get to see the images on the back of my camera, ask me questions, etc as we go.
When you’re involved in your photoshoot and the planning that comes before – what we create together is on-brand and matches your vision! It also fits where you need it – my worst nightmare is shooting a whole session and you not being able to use the images. You bring your ideas and your preferences and your vision, and we work together to bring that to life. Your final image gallery will hit the goals we laid out when we started planning so that you USE the photos!
I get really excited about that awesome image I just captured when I look at the back of my camera. I get just as excited as you when I scroll Pinterest and see an amazing photo. But what I’m really excited about it making images for YOU so YOU feel awesome about your brand and your business. I can’t wait to get to know you!
