1. Inquiry
When I first get your email asking about a family session, I will send you my family session pricing guide, with info about me and the prices for sessions. I will ask how many people are in your family and we will talk about possible dates/times.
2. Booking
Once we settle on a date and time, I will officially book your session in the client software I use. This puts you on the calendar and you will be sent my family session guide with tips for what to wear, what to bring, how you get your images, etc. If you know where you want photos at this point then you can let me know but if you don’t, don’t worry! We’ll work on it together.
3. Questionnaire
After booking, ahead of your session I will send you a link to an online questionnaire where you tell me a little more about your family, any particular photos you need, and any preferences you have. This communication helps me so much in preparing for your session and choosing a location!
4. More communication
If you have any other questions at this point, you email me! We also finalize a location and meeting place.
5. Payment
Payment in full is due at the session. Each client has a client portal where they can view invoices and questionnaires prior to the session. Payment can be made via cheque, cash, e-transfer or credit card.
6. Session
We get to meet! I start off the session by talking to you first. I want to meet your kids and learn their names before I start shooting! I use any preferences or posing requests as we take a variety of shots – during your session we can take whatever poses you want! Typically a family session includes shots of the whole family, just the kids, just mom and dad, and individual shots of each child. Other pose requests have included mom and the girls or mom and the boys, dad and the girls or dad and the boys, or one-on-one shots with a parent and child. A session lasts an hour to an hour and a half. For families with younger children I typically bring my infamous tickle stick (a duster – I’ve never used it for dusting don’t worry ;)) and rubber duck to help get their attention. You may see a different side of me! 😉
7. After the Session
Following your session, it will take 2-3 weeks to receive your images. I choose the best 40-50, edit them, and upload them to your online gallery. Once they are uploaded I send you the link to view them! You can download the images right from the gallery, and share your link with grandma so she can, too.
8. Your Images
After downloading, you back up your images by copying them to and saving them in two other places. Then you print some for the walls! 🙂
